Weil on Cleansing Catholicism

Anent Kenneth Rexroth's remark a couple of posts back about Simone Weil's "tortured prowling outside the doors of the Catholic Church," I just stumbled upon this:

The philosophical cleansing of the Catholic religion has never been done. In order to do it, it would be necessary to be inside and outside. (Gravity and Grace, p. 120)
