More on the Red and the Blue

Clark Goble writes via e-mail:

Bill, I come from the school that says the divide in America isn't as great as many think. Indeed the whole controversy about Iraq was only possible because of some poor strategic decisions by Bush in implementing the policy, leading a lot of former Bush leaning people to vote against him. Indeed had Bush planned for the insurgency in the initial plans, given more contract money directly to Iraqis, and avoided some of the problems in the jails, I doubt the Democratic people like Kerry or Dean would have been close to being as popular as they were. Anyway, the following map is useful as it shows the breakdown by % voting Republican or Democratic. (Admittedly I'm in one of the mainly red counties and voted Bush myself, albeit somewhat reluctantly wishing there was a different Republican choice)
